A grow tent needs to fit your room while leaving space to use it comfortably. Begin with three measurements: the tent’s base, its full height and the working space around its doors and service points. A tent that fits against the wall may still be awkward to water, clean or connect to extraction.

This grow tent size guide helps you compare physical dimensions before choosing a model. Kit names and pot quantities describe the package. The practical space available also depends on the crop, containers and layout.

Read the base dimensions and height separately

The first two measurements describe the tent’s base; the third describes its height. For example, 120 × 60 × 180cm has a rectangular base and is 180cm tall. A 100 × 100 × 200cm tent has a square base and more vertical space. Check the manufacturer’s dimension order and door position for the exact model.

The following dimensions appear in the equipment lists of our current grow sets. They help you compare shapes and heights; confirm the selected product’s specification before ordering.

Physical tent dimensions listed in selected grow sets
Base dimensions (cm) Height (cm) Example grow set
60 × 60 170 Value Starter Set
70 × 70 160 Spider Farmer Starter Set
76 × 76 180 Lumatek Starter Set
80 × 80 160 Mars Hydro Starter Set
90 × 90 180 Spider Farmer Complete Set
100 × 100 180 Mars Hydro Complete Set
100 × 100 200 Lumatek Complete Set
120 × 60 180 Mars Hydro DWC Set
70 × 140 200 Spider Farmer DWC Set
120 × 120 200 Lumatek Advanced Set
150 × 150 200 Lumatek Pro Set

The two 100 × 100cm examples show why checking height matters: their bases match, but their listed heights are 180cm and 200cm. Choose the combination that works with your ceiling and planned equipment.

Mark out the tent and its working space

Measure the usable room at floor level, including skirting boards, radiators and furniture. Check the ceiling above the whole proposed position, especially under a slope. Mark the tent’s base with masking tape, then stand where you would open the door and work.

Check how the door opens or rolls back, which sides provide access and where the duct and cable ports sit. Allow space to unzip the opening fully and remove the floor tray if the model has one. Keep room doors and everyday routes usable. Follow the equipment manufacturers’ clearance instructions; the required space varies with the installation.

A rectangular tent can suit a long wall, but its access arrangement still needs checking. Decide where its long and short sides will sit before ordering, using the actual door and port layout.

Plan the vertical stack before using all the height

Start at the floor with the height of your pots, trays, stands or hydroponic modules. Add the space your crop is expected to occupy. Above that, reserve the light-to-canopy distance specified for the exact fixture and growing stage, plus the fixture itself and its hanging equipment.

Now place the extraction equipment in the plan. A fan, filter, duct connections and bends may occupy the same upper space as the light and hangers. Check their dimensions, mounting instructions and the tent’s suspension limits. Plan how you will reach connections or remove equipment for servicing.

For model-specific assembly details, use the Spider Farmer manual centre or Mars Hydro manuals where relevant. Once the physical layout is clear, our LED grow light size guide covers choosing lighting for the growing space.

Test access with the containers in place

Place empty pots, trays or cardboard outlines inside your taped footprint. Practise reaching the back positions, checking plants and lifting a container out. Include space taken by saucers, pipework and equipment mounted near the floor.

If servicing a rear container requires moving everything in front, plan a workable access route. A larger base helps only when its doors, side openings and position let you use that extra space.

Leave room for watering and maintenance

For hand watering, check where you will carry and set down a filled watering can, and how you will reach each container. For irrigation or DWC, plan access to the reservoir, filling point and drain route. Check that lids and inspection openings can be lifted with the tent assembled and the crop in place.
